Fm. 57.The chamber story contains abundant accommodationfor a cottage. There are three handsome bed-rooms, andtwo of a smaller size. That over the drawing-room beingthe largest, and the most beautiful in form, may be keptas the state bed-room, being fitted up with all the appli-ances of comfort in its furniture and fixtures. The littleroom over the porch will make a delightful room for abachelor; or if one of the young ladies takes a fancy to it,it will make a little hijoio of a boudoir, the oriel Avindowgiving a character of novelty and beauty to the wholeapartment. On the second floor of the kitchen wing are abath-room, near the main hall (which may be suppliedwith hot water by pipes leading to a boiler in the kitchenbelow), and three servants bed-rooms. A Bungalow of Sunshine—No. 965 Here is a corking good bungalow to build, either in a city, a suburb, a lot in a country townor a small village. This little bungalow has a beautiful living room across the front, a dining room in the rearof same, good pantry and large kitchen, combination stairway, and a splendid piazza across theentire front of the house. This piazza can be sashed in in the winter and make a sun room ofsame if one desires. The second story is well laid out and carefully planned and we are sure that it will meetwith the approval of every housewife. There isi a full basement under the entire house. Firststory, 9 feet, second story 8 feet. The rooms are all finished up to full height. First story is finished in gum, red oak or Washington fir of clear quality. Second story ispine to paint, or southern pine or Washington fir could be used for the second story if one desires.Size 26 feet wide and 28 feet deep. Cost to build, ,850. At eitherextremity of these rooms is a handsome projecting windowin the Italian mode, giving an aii- of dignity to the apart-ments, and in front are three casement windows open-ing to the floor of the veranda, both for the pui-pose ofallowing an uninterrupted view, and affording easy com-munication. On the rigljt of the hall is the dining-room, 20 by 10feet. A pantry or store-room, 8 by 10 feet, opens into thisroom. In front is a pretty little terrace, ornamented xha few vases of terra cotta, or artificial stone. The chamber floor of this design shows three bed-rooms,20 by 16 feet, each with a pleasant balcony at one of itswindows, and two smaller bed-rooms. In the attic storyare three bed-rooms for servants, lighted by the windowsshown in the gables. The kitchen of this villa is placed beneath the dining-room; and ample cellarage, wine and store rooms, areobtained under the main body of the house, at the otherside of the halL The fanciful and convenient window-shades, or canopies,occasionally employed in this style, may be made of can-vas, supported by a light iron frame, or of light wood,painted to resemble an awning. Handsome striped Italiancanvas for this j^iu-pose may now be had in New York. A building in this style will be greatly heightened ineffect by being well supported by trees, the ii-regular formsof Avhich ^vill harmonize with the character of the archi-tecture.
